FUNDAMENTALS OF ATOMIC ABSORPTION SPECTROSCOPY

INTRODUCTION

As atomic absorption spectroscopy became most useful technology applied in many different fields in the region, it is necessary to fulfill the latest requirements in the industry. The focus of this course is to introduce the latest development in the technology and to create full awareness of the instrument’s function and tools. The course covers different theories of the atomic absorption from the basic to instrumental practice.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

•Individuals who want to learn the atomic absorption instrument operation and the useful practical usage for the laboratory.
•Fundamental chemistry background and familiarity with computer operating system basics are expected.
•Those who like to develop their practical techniques on using the atomic absorption instrument.

TOPICS COVERED

•Introduction to the basic theory
•Theory of atomic absorption
•Description of atomic absorption and emission processes
•Description of atomic absorption instrumentation
•Explanation of flame, furnace and vapor generation atomization
•Outline of the analytical procedures employed in atomic absorption analysis including measurement and calibration procedures
•Outline of interferences and their removal
•Description of system software
•Practical demonstrations and exercises showing the optimization and application of the instrumentation and the use of different flame types.
