ADVANCED GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY & TECHNIQUES

INTRODUCTION

The GC advanced course covers all the practical aspects of capillary GC, which will be explained, discussed and applied in depth during the theoretical and practical sessions during the 5-day course.  It will not only focus on all the major subjects of GC, but also present new developments in this field, like fast GCs, trace analysis, large volume injection, complete separation of complex samples, analysis of gases and volatiles and tailor-made columns.  After this course the delegates can modify or select the right column for their applications and optimize current methods.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Individuals who have attended the Principles of GC course and would like to improve their understanding of the gas chromatography.  Also, those with more than 4 years of hands-on experience in capillary GC can attend this course.

TOPICS COVERED

•Theory of gas chromatography; Golay equation; prediction of column performance
•Columns for capillary GC; effect of length, diameter and film thickness on separation and analysis time
•Columns for fast GC analysis
•Column choice and optimization; selection of carrier gas in relation to performance and analysis time
•Universal & Selective Injection techniques for capillary GC – direct, split, splitless, on-column, headspace, PTV, large volume injection and purge-and-trap
•Gas-Solid Chromatography – PLOT columns for the separation of gases and volatiles
•Multidimensional Gas Chromatography
(MDGC) – separation of complex samples with multiple column systems (column switching, analysers)
•    Selective detectors for capillary GC-ECD, FPD, NPD, SCD, AED, PDD, MS for the detection of element specific compounds in complex mixtures.

PREPREQUISITES

Applicants should either first attend the training session on Principles of Chromatography or have a minimum of 6 years experience in operating Gas Chromatography instruments.

Fees: USD 3,850 $
